Adam Georg Balogh
Adam Georg Balogh serves as a Docent at the Institute of Materials Science, Technische Universit?t Darmstadt, Darmstadt, Germany. He holds a Dr. rer. nat. habil. degree (Ph.D. and C.S. degrees). From 1966 till 1971, he studied mathematics, physics, and astronomy at the Roland-E?tv?s-University, Budapest. In 1971, he received M.S. degree from the Roland-E?tv?s-University, Budapest. In 1975, he received Ph.D. degree from the Roland-E?tv?s-University in atomic physics and solid-state physics with qualification "summa cum laude." In 1986, he received Candidate of Science (C.S.) degree from the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. From 1971 till 1974, he served as a Researcher at the Research Group for Crystal Physics of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. From 1974 till 1998, he worked as a Researcher and Senior Researcher of the Central Research Institute for Physics of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (KFKI), Department for Applied Nuclear Physics. From 1971 till 1974, he studied physical properties of doped and high-purity ionic crystals (NaCl, KCl, CaCl, etc.). In addition, he studied colour centres, point defects, and dislocations. From 1974 to 1980, he studied defect structure of ionic crystals (NaCl, KCl, CaCl, etc.), electron and defect structure of metals and binary alloys (CuNi, PbIn, CuZn, FeB, ect.), development of an angular correlation setup for positron annihilation measurements. He participated in the collaborative research project on high-Tc superconductors (in G?ttingen) from 1987 to 1988. Since March 1992, he has been serving as the Head of the research group for ion beam techniques (in Darmstadt). In 1997, he was awarded the Research Prize of Central Research Institute for Physics of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (KFKI), Budapest. In the period between 1980 and 1982, he was awarded Alexander-von-Humboldt and Max-Planck fellow in Stuttgart. In 1986, Balogh was honored by the Director General with a KFKI research prize. In 1991, he was a Member of the Organizing Committee of the 9th International Conference on Positron Annihilation August 26-31, 1991, Szombathely, Ungarn. In 1996, Balogh was Organizer and Chair of the International Symposium on Materials Science Applications of Ion Beam Techniques, September 9-12, 1996, Seeheim, Germany.
