Assad Movahed achieved his M.D. degree from Jondi-Shapour Medical School, Ahwaz, Iran (1968–1975). He is also a holder of F.A.C.C. and F.A.C.P. degrees. He obtained Mini-Fellowship in cardiac CT at Johns Hopkins and UCLA (2006-2007) and Fellowship in nuclear cardiology from the Johns Hopkins Medical Institution, Baltimore, Md, USA. Since July 1990, Movahed has been a Tenured Professor of medicine at the Section of Cardiology, Department of Medicine, East Carolina University School of Medicine, and, since July 1992, he has been a Professor of radiology at the Department of Radiology at the same university. Movahed is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, the American College of Chest Physicians, and the American College of Physicians and a Fellow of Council on Clinical Cardiology at the American Heart Association. He is also a Founding Member of the Society of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography. Movahed is a Reviewer of the American Family Physician, American Journal of Cardiology, and Annals of Internal Medicine. Some of his activities include teaching lectures to medical students and residents, such as Aortic Valve Disease, Angina Pectoris, Cardiomyopathy, and Congestive Heart Failure. Movahed’s publications involve the book Diagnostic Ultrasound and the review article The Use of Radionuclides in Cardiovascular Diagnosis.
