Mutasem O. Taha is a Professor of medicinal chemistry and drug design at the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the Faculty of Pharmacy, The University of Jordan. Dr. Taha received his Pharmacy B.S. degree from The University of Jordan in 1992. In 1994 and 1998, he earned his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees, respectively, from Loughborough University, UK. In 1998, he was appointed as an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Pharmacy, The University of Jordan. He was promoted to an Associate Professor in 2003 and to a Full Professor in 2008. Currently, he is in charge of the Drug Discovery Unit at the Faculty of Pharmacy, The University of Jordan. He is currently interested in the areas of developing new polymeric materials for drug delivery and applications of molecular modeling techniques in drug design and pharmaceutics. He is particularly interested in the development of novel ligand-based strategies for assessing molecular flexibility of binding sites of various interesting enzymes and receptors. He has a special interest in cancer, diabetes, and obesity.
