Franco Veglio was born in Turin, January 12, 1955. In 1980 he obtained an M.D. (cum laude), University of Turin, Italy; in 1984, 1985 he had a Research Fellow in Endocrinology Hoechst Foundation, Frankfurt, Germany; in 1995 he was a Specialist in Internal Medicine, University of Turin; in 1998 he was a Specialist in Endocrinology, University of Turin; and in 2000 he was a European Specialist in Clinical Hypertension-ESH. In 1992 he had Postgraduate Course of Instruction on Hypertension ( A. Einstein University School of Medicine of New York, USA) and was a Visiting Physician at Hypertension Division of Leuven University, Belgium; in 1997 he was a Visiting Physician at Hypertension Division of the Boston University School of Medicine, USA; in 2000 he was an Associate Professor of Internal Medicine at University of Turin; in 2004 he was a Full Professor of Internal Medicine at University of Turin; and since 2004 he has been the Chief of the Division of Internal Medicine and Hypertension, San Giovanni Hospital, University of Turin, Italy. From 2007 to 2010, he is the Director of Postgraduate School of Internal Medicine, University of Turin; since 2007 he has been the Chief of the Hypertension Excellence Center of the European Society of Hypertension, University of Turin. He is a Referee in Hypertension, Journal of Hypertension, American Journal of Hypertension, Diabetes, Current Hypertension Reviews, Journal of Endocrinol Invest, Nutrition Cardiovasc Metab, High Blood Pressure, Clinical Autonomic Research, Ophtal PO, Horm Metab Research, Export Rev Ophtal, PanMin Med, Journal of Pharmacological Sciences, and Nature Clinical Practice Nephrology. His main research topics include clinical studies on essential and endocrine hypertension, genetic molecular studies of the endocrine hypertension, as well as physiopathological studies on sympathetic system involved in the mechanism of arterial hypertension.
