Dr. Weiwen Zhang is a Professor of Microbiology and Biochemical Engineering in the School of Chemical Engineering and Technology of Tianjin University in China. Prior to joining Tianjin University, Prof. Zhang was a Faculty with Biodesign Institute and the School of Life Sciences of Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona from 2007 to 2011, and a Senior Research Scientist II and Senior Principal Investigator at Microbiology Department with the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory of the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) in Richland Washington from 2002 to 2007. Dr. Zhang has broad research experience in microbial genomics, microbial engineering and synthetic biology, has authored more than 90 peer-reviewed papers and 10 patent applications. His recent research focuses on genomics and metabolic engineering of photosynthetic cyanobacteria, metatranscriptomic and single-cell transcriptomics for complex microbial communities, and integration of various postgenomic datasets.
