Tsutomu Hatano, PhD, Okayama University: Okayama, Japan Dr. Hatano is Professor of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Okayama University Graduate School of Medicine, Dentistry and Pharmaceutical Sciences. He received his BSc in Pharmaceutical Sciences from Shizuoka College of Pharmacy in 1977, MSc in Pharmaceutical Sciences from Okayama University in 1979, and PhD from Kyoto University in 1991. His research as a faculty staff started as Assistant Professor at Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Okayama University in 1979. He continued his research as Associate Professor, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Okayama University in 1993. He has been Professor, Okayama University Graduate School of Medicine, Dentistry and Pharmaceutical Sciences, since 2005. He received Prize for Encouragement of the Research from Japanese Society of Pharmacognosy in 1994. His research interests include 1) Structural study on natural polyphenols; 2) Interaction of polyphenols with biopolymers; 3) Analysis of constituents of traditional medicine; and 4) Production of natural polyphenols in plants.
