Fengfeng (Jeff) Xi

Fengfeng (Jeff) Xi received his B.S. degree in manufacturing engineering in 1982 and his M.S. degree in precision machining in 1984 from Shanghai University in Shanghai, China. He was appointed lecturer at the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the same university till 1988 when departing to Canada for his Ph.D. study. He received his Ph.D. degree in robotics and automation in 1993 from the University of Toronto and was awarded a NSERC Postdoctoral Fellowship with which he worked as a Postdoctor at McGill University and the University of Waterloo. In 1994, he joined National Research Council of Canada (NRC) and progressed from an Assistant Research Officer to an Associate Research Officer and Project Leader. In 2001, he joined Ryerson University as an Associate Professor. Xi is a Ryerson Research Chair in manufacturing automation and the Director of Robotics and Intelligent Manufacturing Research Laboratory at Ryerson University. He has published over 140-refereed journal and conference papers and coedited one book. His research interests cover robotics and mechanisms, manufacturing and automation, inspection and condition monitoring. He has received a number of research awards including the Best Paper Award in 2002 from international conference on flexible automation and intelligent manufacturing. Dr. Xi is a professional engineer registered in the province of Ontario in Canada, and affiliated with a number of associations. He has served as a Committee Member and reviewer for a number of funding organizations, and as an Editorial Board Member/Guest Editor for a number of journals including the International Journal of Manufacturing Research, the International Journal of Manufacturing Technology and Management, the International Journal of Computer Aided Engineering and Technology, the Advances in Mechanical Engineering, the International Journal of Advanced Robotic Systems, the International Journal of Robotics and Computer Integrated Manufacturing, and the International Journal of Computer Integrated Manufacturing.
