G. K. Matsopoulos received a Diploma in electrical engineering in 1988 from the National Technical University of Athens. He received his M.S. degree in 1989 from the Bioengineering Unit, University of Strathclyde, UK, and his Ph.D. degree from Bioengineering Unit in 1993 from the University of Strathclyde, UK. He worked as a Product Specialist of Toshiba’s Medical Imaging Modalities at ERGO S.A., one of the leading in medical equipment, for several years. He serves currently as an Assistant Professor at the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, National Technical University of Athens, Greece. His research interests include linear and nonlinear signal processing, image processing, 2D and 3D registration and fusion, biosignal processing, optimization techniques, decision support systems, telemedical and computer vision applications, and hospital information systems. He has published over 100 papers in international scientific journals, chapters in books, and international and national conference proceedings. He has participated in various European projects, for instance, the Hellenic Society of Biomedical Engineering and National Projects, as a Project Coordinator and/or a Scientific Responsible such as ESPRIT, IT IS/DGIII, Telematics, and IST.
