Mehdi Hedayati was born in Tehran, Iran, in 1969. He received the chemistry B.Sc., clinical biochemistry M.Sc., and biochemistry Ph.D. degrees from the Sharif University of Technology (Tehran, 1991), Tarbiat Modares University (Tehran, 1995), and Tehran University (Tehran, 2001), respectively. Since 2001, Hedayati is an Academic Staff and the Head of research laboratories of Research Institute for Endocrine Sciences, Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences in Tehran, Iran. During 2001–2005, he focused on thyroid hormone biochemistry, especially IDD. In cooperation with the WHO, he taught iodine determination methods in local and Middle East workshops. After 2005, he focused on biochemical and genetic aspect of obesity. Presently, he is an Assistant Professor in Obesity Research Center. He is mainly interested in adipokines role in insulin resistance and association with metabolic syndrome, diabetes, PCO, and related disorders. He is a Consultant of MOH in Biochemistry Branch.
