Mehdi Hedayati was born in Tehran, Iran, in 1969. He received his B.S. degree in chemistry, his M.S. degree in clinical biochemistry, and his Ph.D. degree in biochemistry from the Sharif University of Technology, Tarbiat Modares University, and Tehran University, Tehran, in 1991, 1995, and 2001, respectively. Since 2001, Hedayati has been an Academic Staff and the Head of Cellular and Molecular Research Center, Head of Research Laboratories of Research Institute for Endocrine Sciences, Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences in Tehran, Iran. During 2001–2005, he focused on thyroid cancer, genetic and biochemical aspect, and also IDD. In cooperation with the WHO, he taught iodine determination methods in local and Middle Eastern workshops. After 2005, he focused on biochemical and genetic aspect of obesity. Presently, he is an Assistant Professor in Obesity Research Center. He is mainly interested in adipokines role in insulin resistance and association with metabolic syndrome, diabetes, PCO, and related disorders. He is a Consultant of MOH in biochemistry branch.
