Maurice Nahabedian is currently a Professor of plastic surgery at Georgetown University and an Associate Professor of plastic surgery at the Johns Hopkins University, USA. His undergraduate and medical degrees were from the University of California, Irvine, Calif, USA. He completed his residencies in general surgery at the University of California, Irvine, Calif, USA, in 1992, and his plastic surgical residency and fellowship at Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore, USA, in 1995. Following a brief period in private practice, Dr. Nahabedian joined the prestigious faculty at Johns Hopkins where he served from 1996 to 2005. At Johns Hopkins, he was the Director of the Center for Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery of the Breast. He is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and is a Member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, American College of Surgeons, American Association of Plastic Surgeons, and American Society for Reconstructive Microsurgery. He has performed nearly 2000 breast reconstructions using autologous tissues as well as prosthetic devices. He is internationally recognized for his expertise in DIEP flap breast reconstruction. Dr. Nahabedian has published over 100 scientific manuscripts and 34 book chapters, (co)edited 5 textbooks, and has delivered over 600 presentations on topics related to plastic surgery of the breast. Dr. Nahabedian also serves on the Editorial Boards of the Journal of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Annals of Plastic Surgery, and the Breast Journal.
