Olivia Manfrini received her medical degree (summa cum laude) from the University of Bologna, Italy, in 1995 and M.S. degree in biostatistics from the University of Bologna, Italy, in 2003. She was a visiting scientist at NHLBI, National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, Md, USA, in 1995. In 2000, she received an accreditation as a medical specialist for internal medicine (summa cum laude) and in 2002 a certification in human subjects protection in research (USA). In 2002, she was a Research Associate at the Cardiovascular Laboratory and Interventional Cardiology, Division of Cardiology, Brown University, Rhode Island Hospital, USA. From 2000 to 2008, Manfrini was a Researcher at the Dipartimento di Medicina Interna, Cardioangiologia, Epatologia, University of Bologna, Italy. Since 2009, she has been a Researcher at the Dipartimento di Medicina Interna, dell’Invecchiamento, Malattie Nefrologiche, University of Bologna, Italy, and since 2004 an Aggregate Professor of cardiovascular disease, School of Nursing, University of Bologna, Italy. In addition, she is a Member of the American Heart Association, Council on Basic Cardiovascular Sciences, a Member of the American Physiological Society, and a Fellow the European Society of Cardiology. Her publications include 12 original articles in peer-reviewed journal, 1 editorial article in peer-reviewed journal, 3 review articles, and 1 book chapter. She has 38 contributions at ESC, AHA, and ACC conferences. Her main scientific interests include pathophysiology of coronary artery disease, coronary artery disease and microcirculation, coronary artery disease in the acute phase, and secondary prevention.
