Eiji Matsuura

Eiji Matsuura received his Ph.D. degree in immunology from the Okayama University Graduate School of Medicine, Okayama, Japan, and he is an Associate Professor of the Department of Cell Chemistry at Okayama University Graduate School of Medicine, Dentistry, and Pharmaceutical Sciences. After the training at the Department of Medicine at the National Jewish Center for Immunology and Respiratory Medicine, Denver, Colo, USA, 1986–1988, he worked at Yamasa Corporation, Chiba, Japan, 1998–1995, and then at the Department of Biochemistry, Hokkaido University School of Medicine, Sapporo, Japan, 1995–1997. Since 1997, he has been working at the current department. He has published about 160 original peer-reviewed articles and invited reviews and 20 book chapters, has been currently serving on the editorial board of another two journals, which are Journal of Autoimmunity and Autoimmunity Reviews, and has been granted 17 patents. Major interest of Dr. Matsuura is pathophysiology of atherosclerosis, autoimmune-mediated thrombosis and vasculitis (antiphosholipid syndrome), infection-accelerated atherosclerosis, primary biliary cirrhosis, and so on.
