Xavier Parés

Xavier Parés serves at the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, University Autonoma de Barcelona, Spain. He also serves as the Head of the group “structure, function and biomedical applications of dehydrogenases/reductases.” His research activities include the structure and function of medium-chain dehydrogenases/reductases (MDR) and aldo-keto reductases (AKRs), the role of MDRs and AKRs in retinoid metabolism, and the identification and characterization of novel MDR and AKRs. His main areas of expertise include structure/function relationships in enzymes, enzyme kinetics, retinoid metabolism, and alcohol metabolism.
