Phillipa J. Hay
Professor Hay is an international leader in eating disorders and is regularly invited to present at national and international meetings. She is a member of the expert panel for the 11th World Health Organisation revision of the ICD for Eating Disorders, a past-President of the Australian Academy for Eating Disorders, Deputy-Chair of the National Eating Disorders Collaboration, a current member of the scientific committee and conference committee of the International Academy for Eating Disorders (and co-Convenor of the 2014 meeting), co-Chair of the International Academy for Eating Disorders Sisterhood and Chapters Committee, and past co-Convenor of the 2006 Eating Disorders Research Society scientific meeting. In her career she has led research with specific aims to reduce community and individual burden from eating disorders. This includes analytic epidemiologic studies, treatments in eating disorders, and meta-analyses as well as primary research. She serves on several Editorial Boards and has just undertaken with BMC publishing to be co-Editor-in-Chief with Professor Stephen Touyz of a new international Journal of Eating Disorders. She has published over 180 scientific papers, book chapters/invited commentaries, authored books, edited books and other pieces. She has been a chief investigator on over 20 funded research grants including those that are nationally competitive, such as from the NHMRC and Rotary Health Research Fund. She has served in a leadership capacity in her profession and is past Deputy Chair of the RANZCP Board for Professional Practice and Partnerships. Professor Hay is also a Senior Examiner and Member of Board of Examiners for the Australian Medical Council.
