Alfred Längler was born in Dillingen/Saar, Germany, in 1961. He did his studies for his Medical degree at the Witten/Herdecke University from 1987 to 1993. He got his Ph.D. degree from Medical School, Hannover University in 1994 (doctor thesis). He did his internships and fellows in pediatrics at the Gemeinschaftskrankenhaus Herdecke, Evangelisches Krankenhaus Hamm (neonatology) and the Pediatric Oncology Department of the Children's University Hospital of Cologne (all Germany). He got the degree “Medical Quality Management” and degree pediatric hematology/oncology in 2005. Since 2006, he has been the Director of the Department of Integrative Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine at the Gemeinschaftskrankenhaus Herdecke www.gemeinschaftskrankenhaus.de. He is a Member of the Board of Directors of the “Society for Pluralism in Medicine” www.gpm-org.de and Member of the Board of Directors of Association of Anthroposophic Medicine in Germany (DAMiD) www.damid.de. Since 2009, he has been Member of the Autorisation Complementary and Alternative Medicines (CAM) and Traditional Medicinal Products (TMP) at the Federal Institute for Drugs and Medical Devices in Germany. He conducts clinical teaching and scientific research in pediatrics, pediatric oncology, and complementary and alternative medicine at the University Witten/Herdecke.
