Laura L. Cooling
Dr. Cooling is a graduate of The University of Iowa College of Medicine and holds a Masters Degree in Pathology. She performed her residency and fellowship training at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics and is board-certified in both Clinical Pathology and Blood Banking/Transfusion Medicine. She is currently an Associate Professor of Pathology at the University of Michigan, where she serves as Associate Director, Transfusion Medicine and Director, Cell Therapy Laboratory. She is a past-president of the Michigan Association of Blood Banks and is an active member in AABB, serving on several committees including the Annual Meeting Education Program Committee, Abstract Selection Committee, Scientific Section Coordinating Committee and National Blood Foundation Grant Review Committee. She is an author or co-author of over 100 abstracts, papers and book chapters on topics related to transfusion medicine. Her research interests are primarily in the area of glycoimmunology, particularly related to the role and regulation of glycolipids on platelets, leukocytes and red cells.
