Patricia Negreros-Castillo Universidad Veracruzana. Mexico Patricia Negreros-Castillo was born in Tehuacan, Pue. Mexico, in 1957. She received the Farmaco-Biochemestry degree fron the University Benemerita Universidad Autonoma de Puebla, Mexico in 1976. A master degree in Natural Resources Management from the Instituto Nacional de Investigaciones Sobre Recursos Bióticos, Xalapa. Mexico in 1983, and the Ph.D. degree in Forest Biology from Iowa State University (ISU), USA, in 1991. Since 2010 she is the director of the Forestry Research Institute of the Universidad Veracruzana (UV). PROFESSIONAL GOAL To conduct projects and work with individuals and organizations to develop strategies for sustainable forest management that will result on the improvement of quality of life of all people and protects the environment for future generations. EXPERIENCE She joined the UV as researcher in 2005. Forestry Research Director in the Yucatan peninsula from 1991 to 1993, Part time faculty at NREM (then Forest Department) from August 1994-2002. Sabbatical at FAO in 2002. Since 1986, she has been conducting research to support sustainable forest management with communities in Mexico and Guatemala. Her research has focused on tropical ecology, silviculture, and agroforestry. As Forestry Research Director in the Yucatan peninsula from 1991 to 1993, she supervised a team of 20 forestry researchers, and I was directly involved in the development and implementation of the Mexico-ICRAF agroforestry program.
