Carlos M. Travieso-González received an M.S. degree in telecommunication engineering at Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC), Barcelona, Spain, in 1997, and a Ph.D. degree in 2002 at the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (ULPGC), Las Palmas, Spain. He serves as an Associate Professor since 2001 in ULPGC, teaching subjects on signal processing and learning theory. His research lines include biometrics, biomedical signals, data mining, classification system, signal and image processing, and environmental intelligence. He is Coauthor of 2 books, Coeditor of 9 proceeding books, and Guest Editor for two international journals and up to 12 book chapters. He has over 300 papers published in international journals and conferences. He has served as a Reviewer for different international journals (>30) and PC member in conferences since 2001 (>50). Travieso-González acts as a Member of IASTED Technical Committee on Image Processing since 2007 and a Member of IASTED Technical Committee on Artificial Intelligence and Expert Systems since 2011. He acted as the Vice Dean from 2004 to 2010 at the Higher Technical School of Telecommunication Engineers in ULPGC. Since March 2013, Travieso-González works as Vice Dean at the Higher Technical School of Telecommunication and Electronics Engineers in ULPGC.
