Avraam Ploumis

Avraam Ploumis is working as a Consultant Orthopaedic and Spine Surgeon at the 424 General Army Hospital, Thesaloniki, Greece. He also teaches orthopaedic Spine Surgery at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He has earned his M.D. degree in 1993 and his Ph.D. degree in 2004 at the Medical School of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. His dissertation on bone apoptosis was supported with a scholarship by the prestigious Onassis Foundation. He was trained in Orthopaedic Surgery from 1996–2002 both in Thessaloniki, Greece, and Springfield, Illinois, and has completed a clinical fellowship in Spine surgery at the Twin Cities Spine Center, Minneapolis, Minnesota. He also entered a Spine fellowship in Rush University Medical Center and was elected as Edgar Dawson Scoliosis Research Society Traveling Fellow in 2005. He has published numerous papers in medical literature and presented his works in international orthopaedic meetings. His current research interests include minimally invasive spine surgery, scoliosis surgery, and arthroscopic knee surgery.
