Wen-De Zhong is a Professor in the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore. He received his Ph.D. degree from the University of Electro-Communications, Tokyo, Japan in 1993. Since then, he has made significant contribution in the area of optical communication systems and networks, and published more than 180 refereed journal and conference papers. He has given several invited presentations at international conferences. He has served on organizing and/or technical program committees or advisory committees for numerous international conferences. During 1993–1995, he was a Postdoctoral Fellow at NTT Network Service Systems Laboratories, Tokyo, Japan. Between 1995 and 2000, he worked in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, University of Melbourne, Australia as a research fellow and then a senior research fellow (1998–2000). His research interests include optical WDM networks, optical signal processing, photonic switching systems, traffic grooming in WDM networks, and network survivability.
