Jen-Hwey Chiu received M.D. and Ph.D. degrees. He was born on June 14, 1956. From 1974 till 1981, he studied medicine at Kaohsiung Medical College, Kaohsiung, Taiwan. He completed his internship at the National Taiwan University Hospital from 1980 till 1981. Besides, from the year 1986 to the year 1989, he studied at the Graduate Institute of Clinical Medicine, Yang-Ming University. He completed his residency in surgery from Veterans General Hospital, Taipei, Taiwan. He has done his Ph.D. training in clinical medicine from Yang-Ming University. He received a research fellowship in 1994 from the College of Acupmoxa and Orthopedics, Bejing, China. Starting from August, 2003 till July, 2009, he has served as the Director of the Institute of Traditional Medicine, National Yang-Ming University. Since August, 1999, he serves as a Professor at the Institute of Traditional Medicine, National Yang-Ming University. He was appointed as a Visiting Staff in surgery at Veterans General Hospital, Taipei, Taiwan in 1997. In 2006, he worked as a Consultant at the Center of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Veterans General Hospital, Taipei, Taiwan. His major research interests are mechanisms of tumor recurrence in hepatocellular carcinoma and breast cancer, integrative medicine for gastroenterology and hepatology, the mechanism exploration in acupuncture/ moxibustion, the protective effect of Chinese medicinal remedy on hepatocyte injury, and coordination the program of Integrative Medicine and Tibetan medicine.
