H. Y. Chung was born in Ping-Tung, Taiwan. He received the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from the National Cheng Kung University, Tainan, Taiwan, in 1987. In 1977, he was affiliated with the Chung-Shan Institute of Science and Technology as a Research Assistant. From 1984 to 1987, he worked as a Lecturer at the Mechanical Engineering Department of the NCKU. In 1987, he joined the Department of Electrical Engineering at the National Central University. Since 1992, he has been serving as a Professor. In addition, he is a Registered Professional Engineer in Taiwan. He is a Life Member of the CIEE and the CIE. He received the research outstanding awards of NCU in 2005, 2007, 2008, and 2009 academic years, respectively. He also received the Outstanding Electrical Engineering Professor Award and Electrical Engineer Award of Kaoshiung Branch of the Chinese Institute of Electrical Engineering in 2009 and 2003, respectively. His research and teaching interests include system theory and control, adaptive control, fuzzy control, neural network applications, bioinformatics and biocontrol applications. He authored or coauthored over 280 technical publications in several journals and conference proceedings.
