Yael Mardor serves as the Chief Scientist and the Head of the Magnetic Resonance Research Group at the Advanced Technology Center of Sheba Medical Center, Israel. She serves also as a Senior Lecturer at Tel-Aviv University Medical School. After receiving her Ph.D. degree in nuclear physics at Tel Aviv University in collaboration with Brookhaven National Laboratory, she proceeded to medical research with emphasis on brain, brain tumors, and MRI. The hospital setup, enabling preclinical/clinical research, close access to physicians/patients, and close collaboration with industry, forms an optimal environment for translational medical research which is the nature of her research. The MR Research Group is involved in numerous projects including in-vitro and in-vivo clinical studies in the fields of cancer and brain tumors, drug delivery to the brain, applications of MRI for unique tissue characterization, prediction/monitoring response to therapy, and more. The laboratory continuously collaborates with physicians/researchers from medical and academic institutions around the world.
