I received my Ph.D. degree from the Netherlands Institute for Brain Research and did postdoctoral study at Netherlands Institute for Brain Research, Netherlands Ophthalmic Research Institute, Academic Medical Center (AMC), University of Amsterdam, the Netherlands. My research concerns the structure and function of neural circuits. A part of the research involves studies of axonopathy and dendropathy in relation to the neuropathological mechanism in Alzheimer’s disease and related neurodegenerative diseases. Another research program focuses on the biophotonic transmission in neural circuits related to the higher functions of nervous system, such as vision, learning and memory, cognation and consciousness, and the mechanisms of human neurological and psychiatric diseases.
