Luis Rodrigo was born in Vitoria (Spain), where he performed his high school studies from 1955 to 1961. He graduated as a licensee in medicine and surgery from Medical School at the Central University of Madrid, Madrid, Spain, in June 1967. Rodrigo received a Ph.D. degree in medicine in Oviedo, Spain, in 1975. He has been the Chief of the Department of Gastroenterology at the University Hospital Central of Asturias (Spain) since January 1996. He worked as a Titular Professor of medicine at the University of Oviedo, Oviedo, Spain, from 1983 to 2009. Rodrigo has also served as a Full Professor of medicine at the same university since 2010. Among other colleagues, he has taught around 100 specialists in gastroenterology in the last 30 years, within the National Program of Fellowship. He was as the first author or coauthor of more than 200 scientific papers written in English and about 254 papers in Spanish. Rodrigo has written a total of 55 chapters of books about gastroenterology and 5 books about treatment in gastroenterological diseases.
