Jesús Souza Troncoso
Jesus Souza Troncoso received his Ph.D. degree in 1990 from the University of Santiago de Compostela, Galicia, Spain, and his research was on the distribution and ecology of benthic molluscs in the Galician coasts of Spain. He worked at the same University as an Assistant Professor until 1994. In 1995, he moved to the University of Vigo, Vigo, Spain and served as a Titular Professor and a Secretary and Chief of Department from 1998 to 2005. Since 2005, Professor Troncoso has been holding the positions of full professor and dean at the Marine Science Faculty. He published more than 100 scientific papers about marine life, books, chapters of books, and chapters on natural history encyclopedias, most of them on molluscs. He is a member of several malacological societies around the world, President of the Spanish Malacological Society since 2011, and Secretary of UNITAS Malacologica since 2010. Since 2001, Professor Troncoso has been the Associate Editor of Iberus and Scientia Marina (Benthos). His current research interests are ecology, systematic, and diversity patterns of benthic fauna in several parts of the world.
