Martin E. R. Shanahan
Martin E. R. Shanahan graduated in physics from University College London (1971) and obtained a Ph.D. degree from the City University, London (1974). He served as a postdoc in Eastern France (Mulhouse) (1974–1977) at the Centre of Research for Physical Chemistry of Solid Surfaces (CRPCSS) and Mulhouse Chemistry School (ENSCMu), followed by a career in the National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS) and later at the School of Mines at Paris, and for a short period at Alès (Southern France). Presently, (since 2006) he serves as a Professor at the University of Bordeaux, France, and as a Scientific Advisor of the Institute of Mechanics and Engineering. Subjects of interest include capillarity, wetting, adhesion, polymers, and composite materials. He has 200 papers published in refereed journals.
