Mark M. Stevens

Mark M. Stevens is a Principal Research Scientist with the New South Wales Department of Primary Industries, Australia. He is based at Yanco in the Riverina, where he conducts applied entomological research on a range of irrigated crops, but with a particular emphasis on rice. Born in Sydney in 1961, he obtained his Ph.D. degree from the University of Sydney in 1989, having worked on the systematics of Australian cicadellid leafhoppers. He was appointed as Director of Yanco Agricultural Institute in 2008 and is an Adjunct Professor at the Charles Sturt University. He chaired symposia on rice pest biology and management at the International Congresses of Entomology in 2000, 2004, and 2008 and is on the Editorial Board of General and Applied Entomology. Stevens has a broad range of interests that extend from chemical ecology and biological control through to the effects of agrochemicals on nontarget organisms.
