Arvind Agarwal works as an Associate Professor at the Department of Mechanical and Materials Engineering (MME) at the Florida International University (FIU), Miami, Fla, USA. He received his Ph.D. degree in materials science and engineering from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, Tenn, USA in 1999 and the B.Tech. and M.Tech. degrees from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kanpur in 1993 and 1995, respectively. His current research interests include carbon nanotube reinforced metal and ceramic nanocomposites, bioceramics, nanomechanics and nanotribology, surface engineering, thermal spray, and near net shape processing. Agarwal has published over 120 technical papers including 75 peer-reviewed papers in leading journals and 3 edited books. Moreover, he received prestigious Career Award from US National Science Foundation (NSF). He serves on the editorial boards of several journals. Prior to his academic career, Dr. Agarwal worked in industry as a Materials Scientist in Plasma Processes Inc., Huntsville, Ala, USA from 1999 to 2002.
