David John Bunyan

David Bunyan was born in South Wigston, Leicester in 1969. He obtained a B.Sc (Hons) in Genetics at York University before later completing his Ph.D on Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy and colorectal cancer at Southampton University. He has spent around 20 years in the field of diagnostic genetics, mostly as a Senior Clinical Scientist at the Wessex Regional Genetics Laboratory in Salisbury, England. He spent the early part of his career developing diagnostic tests for the dystrophin gene and various hereditary cancer syndromes but now mainly specialises in the Multiplex Ligation-dependent Probe Amplification test (MLPA), designing new probes for those genes where no commercial probe is available.
