Iksoo Kim was born in February 7, 1963, in Pusan, Korea. He is an Associate Professor at the Department of Applied Biology, Chonnam National University. Kim obtained his B.A. degree in sericulture in 1985 from Dong-A University, Pusan, Korea and his M.A. degree in biology in 1992 from Hofstra University, Hempstead, NY, USA. He received his Ph.D. degree in biology in May 1998 from Illinois State University. He is recently working as the Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Industrial Entomology, published in Korea, and another Korean language journal of entomology as editor. Kim is recently more involved in mitochondrial genome of insects for genomic analysis and molecular phylogenetic relationships of insect groups, population geographic variation, and some for DNA barcode marker for insects. He has published more than 50 papers regarding these issues recently.
