Giancarlo Ceccarelli is a Medical Doctor, specialist in infectious diseases, global health, and migration. He was a Physical Doctor in immunological and antibiotic therapy and Medical Director at the Department of Public Health and Infectious Diseases (University of Rome “Sapienza”, Italy), where he works at the Reference Center for High-Prevalence Diseases. Ceccarelli is a Member of the Working Group on Global Health of the Italian Institute of Health. He has collaborated since 2008 with the Emergency Department of the Italian Red Cross in the management of diseases with high infectivity in migrant populations. He was the author of many scientific papers on infectious diseases, HIV, and other sexually transmitted diseases. His research interests include pathogenesis of HIV infection and side effects of antiretroviral medication.
