Orazio Schillaci received his medical education at the University of Rome “La Sapienza,” where he obtained also the Ph.D. degree in functional radioisotope imaging. In 1999, he worked as a Visiting Professor at the University of California Davis, Sacramento, in the Section of Radiodiagnosis and Therapy. He serves currently as a Full Professor of nuclear medicine at the University of Rome “Tor Vergata” and the Chief of the Section of Nuclear Medicine at the Policlinico Tor Vergata of Rome. He is now also the Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery of the University of Rome “Tor Vergata.” He is the Author/Cohautor of 125 full papers in listed scientific journals (Journal Nuclear Medicine, European Journal of Nuclear Medicine, New England Journal of Medicine, Radiology, Gut, Annals of Oncology, American Journal of Gastroenterology, Critical Care Medicine, Nuclear Medicine Communications, Cancer Biotherapy Radiopharmaceuticals, Clin Nuclear Medicine, World Journal of Surgery, International Journal of Oncology, Oncology Reports, Anticancer Research, Coronary Artery Disease, Journal of Cardiovascular Surgery, British Journal of Urology International, Journal of Neurology, etc.), 21 chapters in international books, and over 150 abstracts in international scientific meetings. His research areas are nuclear oncology; nuclear cardiology; nuclear gastroenterology; fusion imaging (SPECT/CT and PET/CT); imaging of Parkinson’s disease. He works as a Reviewer for several international medical journals and a Member of the Editorial Board of The Journal of Nuclear Medicine, European Journal of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging, Nuclear Medicine Communications, and Cancer Biotherapy and Radiopharmaceuticals.
