Youssef Said was born in Gafsa, Tunisia, in 1975. He received a Diploma in electrical engineering (electronics and communications), the Advanced Studies Diploma (DEA) in communication systems (optical and microwave communications), and the Ph.D. degree in telecommunications from the National Engineering School of Tunis (ENIT), Tunisia, in 1998, 1999, and 2010, respectively. Said has been serving as an Engineer at the telecom operator "Tunisie Telecom" and the Head of the Division of Quality Assurance at the technical quality direction, since 1999. Said is a member of the editorial board of several journals and occupies the position of a TPC member and reviewer of many international conferences; also he has been serving as a referee for many international journals. His research interests include optical communications, all-optical signal processing using semiconductor optical amplifiers (SOAs), and their applications in high bit rate optical networks, PON-WDM, and Radio over Fiber (RoF).
