Maxine was appointed Reader in Primary Health Care in May 2006, prior to which she was a senior lecturer with responsibilities for undertaking research as well as research-related teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate students. She has a background in primary health care research and has undertaken research in Australia and the United States.Maxine is the Book Editor and Editorial Board member for Primary Health Care Research & Development and an editorial board member of Quality in Primary Care and external referee for a number of research grants programme. She is currently, interim chair for a provider service and a non executive director of a primary care trust. Maxine is currently engaged in projects such as national scoping and identification of innovative models fit for purpose in long term conditions service delivery & provision; evaluation of facilitation of self management in a haemodialysis unit; service provision for parents and children with complex health care needs and multi professional issues relating to non-medical prescribing. Maxine is a PhD examiner and supervisor and has supervised Masters students to completion. She is programme director for the National Institute for Health Research funded MSc Clinical Research.
