Pier A. Borea obtained his Ph.D. degree in chemistry (summa cum laude) from the University of Ferrara, Ferrara, Italy, in 1967. He served as Assistant Professor of chemistry, Faculty of Sciences, University of Ferrara (1970); Assistant Professor of pharmacology, Faculty of Medicine and Surgery, University of Ferrara (1974); Lecturer of physical chemistry, Faculty of Sciences, University of Ferrara (1978–1984); Visiting Professor, Preclinical Research Department, Sandoz, Basel (CH) (1982–1983); Associate Professor of pharmacology, Faculty of Sciences, University of Ferrara (1984–1998); President of the scientific research of the University of Ferrara (1998–2004); Head of the Department of Clinical and Experimental Medicine and Chairman of Pharmacology Medical School University of Ferrara (2001–2011); since 2006 till now, Member of the Ethic Committee of the University Hospital of Ferrara; since 2010 till now, President of the Evaluation Board of the University of Ferrara; and since 2011 till now, Professor of pharmacoeconomics, Faculty of Medicine and Surgery, University of Ferrara. He contributed by 360 publications on international journals and about 20 chapters on international books and h-index of 43. He has participated in more than 200 congresses, presenting main, oral, and poster communications. He is also named as Inventor in about 20 patents. His main field of interest is the study of drug-receptor interactions and adenosine receptor system.
