Agostino Cortesi was born in Padova on January 11, 1963. After graduating in mathematics in 1986, he got a Ph.D. degree in applied mathematics and informatics from the University of Padova. He was a postdoc at Brown University in 1992/1993. In 1994, he got a position of Assistant Professor at Università Ca' Foscari in Venice. In 1998, he was promoted to Associate Professor and in 2002 he was promoted to Full Professor. In the recent past, he served as Dean of the Computer Science programme, and as Department Chair. Since 2006, he also serves as Vice Rector of Università Ca' Foscari. Currently, he holds the chairs of programming, software engineering, and program analysis and verification in the Computer Science programme at Ca' Foscari. His main research interests concern programming languages theory and static analysis techniques, with particular emphasis on security applications. He published more than 80 papers in high level international journals and proceedings of international conferences. He was also member of several program committees for international conferences (e.g., SAS, VMCAI, CSF) and of editorial boards of scientific journals (Computer Languages, Systems and Structures, Journal of Universal Computer Science). He is specialized in programming languages, software engineering, software analysis and verification, and security.
