Silvia Mari obtained her Ph.D. degree in chemistry in 2006 from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (Madrid, Spain). She focused her research on conformational research on small molecules and protein-ligand interaction studies by nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR). Particularly, in collaboration with the organic synthesis and computational chemistry partners, she focused her investigation on NMR structure-based drug design of glycomimetics of biological interest. After a first postdoc period at the University of Milan, she is now at the Dulbecco Telethon Institute c/o, San Raffaele Scientific Institute in Milan (Italy). Her research focuses on the development of advanced methods for monitoring in vivo ligand-target interaction and structure determination and validation by NMR and implementation and application of NMR metabolomics in collaboration with different researching groups. She is actually involved in developing new computational tools to assist the spectroscopist in metabolite assignment and mixture analysis (in collaboration with The Collaborative Computing Project for NMR (CCPN) and Mestrelab Research Company). In 2011 she created her own company called R4R (www.research4rent.com) with the aim to help connections between pharma and biotech companies and scientific excellences of leading the research centers around the world in order to build synergistic partnerships for R&D applications.
