Anwar Ahniyaz is an expert on surface and colloid chemistry of particulate materials, hybrid materials, and functional thin films. Ahniyaz has a Ph.D. degree in materials science and engineering from Tokyo Institute of Technology, Yokohama, Japan, 2002, and he continued at Postdoc positions at the same Institute from 2002 to 2005 and at Stockholm University, Stockholm, Sweden, from 2005 to 2007, where he led several industrial projects on nanoparticles for catalysts, coatings, and bioceramics as well as for inorganic-organic nanocomposite applications. He joined the Institute for Surface Chemistry (YKI) as a Project Manager in 2007 and became an Area Manager of nanotechnology in 2011 in the Materials and Coating Section. Since January 1, 2013, Ahniyaz has been working at the Technical Research Institute of Sweden (SP) as an Area Manager of nanomaterial and nanotechnology. He has an extensive experience of coordinating and managing industrial projects and EU-funded projects related to nanotechnology. Ahniyaz is interested in the development and formulation of nanomaterials (nanoparticles, nanocomposites, and nano-/microporous materials) and their applications in energy, environment, and health care.
