Gang Sheng

Gang Sheng has been an assistant professor in University of Alaska, Fairbanks since March 2008. His areas of expertise are dynamics, acoustics, tribology applied in vehicle systems, data storage systems, mechatronics and MEMS. Prior to that, Gang Sheng worked for Gates Corporation in Michigan as research scientist (02-08), IBM Corporation in San Jose, California as advisory scientist (01-02), SONY Corporation Singapore Research Lab as principal engineer/research group leader (00-01), Singapore National Lab--Data Storage Institute as engineer, senior engineer, principal engineer (96-00), Huazhong University of Science & Technology in China as a assistant professor/lecturer (87-92). Gang Sheng completed more than 400 industrial technical reports/monographs and five patents. The author of 60 papers in journals and 60 papers in proceedings and 6 book/book chapters, Gang Sheng is a Fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and is a member of Society of Automotive Engineers International. Gang Sheng received several industrial and academic awards. Gang Sheng has served as the session chair/organizer of powertrain NVH session of SAE Congress, the session chair/organizer of NVH session of SAE PFL conferences since 2008. He is a member of the editor board of the Journal of Vehicle Noise and Vibrations, a member of the editor board of Applied Physics Research and a section editor of the book series Encyclopedia of Tribology by Springer. Gang Sheng received his B.S. and M.S. in mechanical engineering from Shanghai Jiaotong University in 1984 and 1987 respectively, and his Ph.D. in civil and environmental engineering from Singapore Nanyang Technological University in 1997.
