John A. Richards

John A. Richards is a Distinguished Member of Technical Staff in the Sensor Exploitation Applications Department of Sandia National Laboratories in Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA. He has led numerous research and development efforts involving synthetic aperture radar (SAR), high range-resolution radar (HRR), automatic target recognition (ATR), and various signal and image processing applications. His areas of particular expertise include sensor exploitation, image formation, and propagation phenomenology for radar and other sensing modalities. Dr. Richards is a member of the Executive Committee of the Automatic Target Recognition Working Group (ATRWG), a consortium of developers, sponsors, and users of sensor exploitation systems. He is also a member of the technical program committee for the SPIE Geospatial Information Fusion conference. Dr. Richards received his Ph.D. in electrical engineering and computer science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in 2001. He received his M.Eng. and S.B. degrees in electrical engineering from MIT in 1996.
