Guilherme Lanzi Sassaki
Guilherme Lanzi Sassaki was born in 1975. He obtained a Pharmacy degree from the Universidade Federal do Paraná (UFPR), Centro, Curitiba, Paraguay in 1998 and a Ph.D. in biochemistry from the same university in 2001. Since 2002, he has been a Professor of biochemistry at UFPR. He is also Member of SBBq and Br-MASS. He was Head of the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, UFPR and Head of the Biodiversity Area of CT-INFRA. In 2001 he was awarded 2nd place as Jovem Talento em Ciencias da Vida, Amersham Pharmacia and SBBq. In 2010 he was awarded a membership at the Brazilian Academy of Science. He was recently cited as author of one of the Top 50 most cited papers in Carbohydrate Research (2007) and the Top 25 in Carbohydrate Research (2008). He has published 103 original papers in highly cited journals. He is mainly interested in structural and functional analysis of glycoconjugates and lipids, development of NMR spectroscopy and MS to study biomolecules, tumoral biomarkers, and semisynthetic immunomodulators.
