Francesco Zirilli obtained his Doctor degree in mathematics, in 1971, and Doctor degree in physics, in 1972, both from the Sapienza University of Rome, Rome, Italy. Zirilli has worked as a Research Scientist in the Scuola Normale Superiore di Pisa, Pisa, Italy; Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences, New York, NY, USA; Rockefeller University, New York, NY, USA; Harvard University, Cambridge, MA, USA. He has served several times as a Visiting Professor in Rice University, Houston, TX, USA. In Italy, he has worked as a Professor in Universita di Camerino, Universita di Catania, and Universita di Salerno. He currently works as a Professor at the Sapienza University of Rome, Rome, Italy. He has been serving as a Principal Investigator in contracts granted from several organizations including US Army, US Air Force, NATO, and Italian Space Agency. Professor Francesco Zirilli is a research scientist whose interests are concentrated in applied mathematics and in the solution of problems in science and in engineering through mathematical modeling. Francesco Zirilli serves in the editorial boards of Journal of Optimization Theory and its Applications, Journal of Global Optimization, Optimization Letters, Waves in Random and Complex Media, Modern Economy, Communications and Networks, ISRN Applied Mathematics, International Journal of Society Systems Science, and American Journal of Mathematics and Sciences.
