Emilio Elizalde

Emilio Elizalde was born in Balaguer, Spain. He obtained an M.S. degree in physics, an M.S. degree in mathematics, and a Ph.D. degree in physics from Barcelona University. He has the Humboldt Fellowship in Hamburg and Berlin, Germany, and the SEP Fellowship in Japan. He has been a Visiting Scholar supported by research contracts from the University of Hamburg, Pennsylvania State University, The Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), High Energy Accelerator Research Organization (KEK), Hiroshima University, Friedrich Schiller University of Jena, University of Leipzig, the NTZ, the MIT, Harvard University, and Trento Universitty. He worked as a Professor at Barcelona University for more than twenty years, and since 1993 he has been a Member of The Higher Research Council of Spain (CSIC), where he is a Senior Research Professor and Principal Investigator of various projects. He is a Special Functions Expert and a Cosmologist, authored several leading references in the fields of zeta functions and heat kernels as well as their applications to theoretical physics and cosmology, and had three well-known books published by Springer Verlag and World Scientific. He is a Member of the Institute of Physics (London) and of several mathematical and physical societies. The list of his former students includes Professor J. Soto, Dr. A. Romeo, Professor S. Gómez, Dr. S. Leseduarte, Dr. S. R. Hildebrandt, Dr. P. Fosalba, Professor E. Gaztañaga, and others.
