Salvatore J. Pacella
Salvatore J. Pacella is the Head of Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Scripps Clinic, La Jolla, CA, USA. Pacella's practice includes cosmetic, plastic and reconstructive surgical procedures of the face, breast, and body. He specializes in facial plastic surgery and oculoplastic (eyelid) surgery. He is an active Member of the American Society of Plastic Surgery, The California Society of Plastic Surgeons, and The American Society of Maxillofacial Surgeons. He also is a Diplomat of the American Board of Plastic Surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. After completing his residency at The University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, MI, USA, Pacella opted to continue training for an additional year in order to study the most advanced techniques in cosmetic surgery. He completed a six-month fellowship in aesthetic breast surgery in Marina Del Rey, CA, USA, and in facial aesthetic and oculoplastic surgery in Atlanta, GA, USA. Having an interest in Health Care Economics, Pacella completed a Master of Business Administration at the world-renowned Ross School of Business at The University of Michigan. Pacella has worked closely with medical device companies and health care administrators with various integrated consulting projects, including examining the role of facility cost analysis in academic medical centers as well as investigating the role of state-administered Certificate-of-Need programs on medical facilities. Pacella serves on the Board of Directors for the Fresh Start Surgical Gifts Foundation, volunteering his skills by performing free reconstructive surgeries to transform the lives of uninsured children who suffer from deformities caused by birth defects, trauma, or disease. Pacella has authored more than a twenty peer-reviewed as well as seven book chapters. Being committed to advancing the specialty of plastic surgery, he has also been invited to present regularly at national and international plastic surgery meetings.
