Tempia Schappi was born in 1966 in Geneva, Switzerland. She graduated in medicine from the University of Geneva, Switzerland, in 1992, in pediatrics, in 1997, and in pediatrics gastroenterology, hepatology, and nutrition, in 2004, respectively. She presented her M.D. thesis on the pulmonary complications of cirrhosis in 1997. After a fellowship at the Institute of Child Health and in Great Ormond Street Hospital in London, England, she returned as a Lecturer and Staff Physician to the University of Geneva in 2005. She has presented her Privat Docent thesis on the hyperinflammation in chronic granulomatous disease in 2010 and works since as an Associated Professor of pediatrics gastroenterology in Geneva. Her major interest is inflammation in chronic granulomatous disease. Her clinical research is directed toward Swiss inflammatory bowel disease for which she is a corecipient of a Swiss National Fund. She serves as the Secretary of the Swiss Society of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, as a Member of the ESPGHAN, and as a Member of the Gastrointestinal Committee of the same society. She is on the Editorial Board of the World Journal of Transplantation, and she works as a Reviewer of the Journal of Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition and the Open Transplantation Journal.
