Laurent Calvez obtained his Ph.D. degree in 2006. After one year of postdoctorate position at the AML, University of Arizona, Tucson, AZ, USA, he joined the Glass and Ceramics team at UMR6226, Université de Rennes1, France, as an Assistant Professor in 2007. His current research interests concern the making of infrared chalcogenide glass ceramics and the investigation of photoinduced effects on this glass family. He participates directly in formal international cooperation programs with the University of Arizona. He is collaborating with several leading European industrial groups such as THALES-ANGENIEUX and SAGEM and is the main coordinator of French-Ukrainian program. He already participated in several ANR and DGA programs. His scientific research gave rise to 44 publications, 23 invited conferences, and 23 international conferences and has been distinguished by the "Prix Bretagne Jeune Chercheur" in 2011. He already codirected 6 Ph.D. students, and he has managed 5 M.S. students and 1 postdoctoral fellow. He is Member of the board of the Institut des Sciences Chimiques de Rennes, UMR6226-ISCR, and Member of the board of the optic and photonic network at Réseau Optique et Photonique (ROP), France.
