J. Alfredo Hernandez was born in Mexico, DF, in 1971. Hernández received the Professional Diploma in chemical engineering in 1996 from Veracruzana University. He received the M.S. degree in food science from Instituto Tecnológico de Veracruz, Mexico, in 1998, and the Ph.D. degree in process engineering from Ecole Nationale Superieure des Industries Agro-Alimentaires, France in 2002. Since 2004, he serves as a Professor and researcher at the Centro de Investigaciones en Ingeniería y Ciencias Aplicadas at the Universidad Autónoma del Estado de Morelos (UAEM). He mainly works on Artificial Intelligence in engineering processes. His research includes modelling and simulation processes (empirical model : direct and inverse neural network, genetic algorithms; physical model; semi-empirical model), optimization and state estimation with application in heat and mass transfer processes and image analysis. He has published more than 40 articles in well-recognized journals (measurement, food control, applied energy, energy, desalination, journal of food engineering, energy and fuels, drying technology, j. solid state electrochem, renewable energy, etc.). He is an editor of IJACT since 2009. He is also a reviewer for Energy, International Journal of Thermal Sciences, Journal of Food Engineering, JAFC, MPE, Desalination, WASJ, RMCG, CABEQ, IJACT, Arabian JSE, Desalination and Water Treatement, IJEIS, IJTS, LAAR, etc.
