Qianping Gu received his B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in computer science from Shandong University, Jinan, China, Ibaraki University, Ibaraki, Japan, and Tohoku University, Sendai, Japan, in 1982, 1985, and 1988, respectively. He works as a Professor at School of Computing Science, Simon Fraser University, Burnaby, BC, Canada. He also worked with the Institute of Software, Chinese Academy of Sciences, China, and Department of Computer Software, The University of Aizu, Japan. His research interests include algorithms and computation, network communications and algorithms, and parallel/distributed processing. He served as a Program Committee Co-/Vice Chair for ICPP2008 (2008 International Conference on Parallel Processing), ICPP 2001 Workshop on Optical Networks, ISPAN 2000 (2000 International Symposium on Parallel Algorithms and Networks), and ICPADS 2000 (2000 International Conference on Parallel and Distributed Systems). Gu is a Member of ACM, IEEE, and IEEE Computer Society.
