Tim S. Nawrot

Tim S. Nawrot was born in 1977. He studied environmental health sciences at Maastricht University, Maastricht, The Netherlands, and at Vermont Medical School, Burlington, Vt, USA. He obtained his Ph.D. degree in environmental and genetic factors in biological and arterial ageing from the University of Leuven, Leuven, Belgium, in 2005. Nawrot currently works as an Associate Professor of environmental epidemiology at Hasselt University, Hasselt, Belgium, and part time (20%) as an Associate Professor of epidemiology at Leuven University, Leuven, Belgium. He teaches courses on epidemiology, risk assessment, and genetic susceptibility. Nawrot served as an Advisor on national and international panels in the field of environmental health including the World Health Organisation and Canadian Health Administration. In 2012, he was a laureate of the two Belgian Academies of Medicine for his work on environmental epidemiology. His research focuses on health effects of environmental pollutants on ageing including effects in early life.
